Once home to the Salish tribes, better known in modern times as the Kalispell and Kootenai Tribes, Sandpoint would later be discovered by explorers, and eventually, the railroad would come through and bring with it Chinese and European Settlers. It became officially incorporated in 1898. Today it hosts a thriving forest industry, ever-growing tourism, utility aircraft building, and manufacturing as well as headquarters to Litehouse Dressing and home to the wildly popular Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
